Most people understand the benefits of blogging for freelancers, but there are some types of blog posts that naturally attract customers. Anyone can incorporate these types of posts on their blog for a greater chance of attracting clients.

A project description blog post or a case study can help readers of your blog learn some important lessons, but it also can attract some clients that may want you to do the same type of project for them. In this type of blog, you should describe the work that you did for your client and the results that you achieved. Make sure that you don’t name your client specifically in the blog post. Your readers can learn some potential information and prospective clients may learn about you and your services.

A tutorial blog post is also a great way to help your readers and demonstrate your expert knowledge to potential clients. All of the work that you describe in your tutorial are things that you can do for a client and they may decide that you are the right person for the project.

Reviews are always a good blog post. Regular readers enjoy reading reviews about products or services before they make a decision to buy. Your blog posts that do not benefit you at all will set you apart from others who review the same product or service. Make sure that you describe the product completely, your opinion, the intended audience for the product and some other similar products or services as an alternative.

Blog posts that are offering a special discount to readers is a way to help bring in clients when times are tough. We all go through tough times and a special discount blog post can sometimes help bring in additional clients and revenue.

Finally, an opinion on the current state of your business or a trend that you see coming down the line may attract clients as well. One of the things that your blog post must do is present you as an expert in your field. An opinion blog post can help to establish this identity for you.

Blog posts like these should be sprinkled on your blog throughout the year. Don’t just rely on these client getting posts when you are hitting tough times. Use this kind of drive and hard work all year long and you will soon have a healthy roster of clients in need of your services.

After taking a 6 month break from blogging I’m feeling out of touch with the blog world. I’ve still got some of my old favourites in my feed reader but not many. The trouble is, being so out of touch it’s difficult to just jump back in and make a good contribution to a conversation.

I’m also starting to think that I’m not interested in what I used to be so much any more. So where’s the conversation at?
